The Bottle!!!

Bitter taste yet so sweet.

What does it taste like? What happens to reality when I’ve taken a sip? Does it time travel me to another planet? Will I have super hero powers like Jackie Chan on the Drunken master?

These are some of the questions looming in every teen’s mind when the see alcohol adverts on boob tube. Mmmmmh surely this could be a form of escapism from all the troubles, sorrows and griefs of the daily endeavors which continue to torment us day by day.

Yes it seems cool to see the elderly clutching that bottle neck and a cigarette with that same hand. How do they do this? Assuredly it takes a special skill to do that trick. No wonder why most kids during play time kill for that drunkard uncle role. Hahahahaa!

“Definitely when I grow up I want to try this,” I told myself 20 years ago.

Little did I know that I was digging my grave, yes at first it was so cool but with time, I realized that I was now a fanatic who wouldn’t sleep without a couple drinks. Luckily I had my own ways of making money so that I wouldn’t ask anyone to feed my addiction but I’ve seen many hooligans who wake up to the streets just beg for alcohol money and that is not so cool.

The sting of it all.

I remember this one night I went out drinking with the boys, it was a fun night indeed until my system couldn’t take anymore alcohol then boom it knocked! To my surprise it was around 3:30 AM when the caretakers shook me up as they were closing the joint but I was the only reveler left there. No wallet, no cellphone, no friends. I had been robbed!

This wasn’t the last time such a thing happening to me, I’d get robbed then buy new stuff and life goes on. Surely I was living on the edge all because of the bottle.

Alcohol has seen the fall of great man. And without help, one’s life can be wrecked.

To the teens wondering what it’s like to be a drinker, tell you what, it’s one hell road you don’t wanna go. Sweet at first but bitter in the long run, the losses outweigh the gains which are merely a mirage.
