Dating is a really complex, complicated and frustrating stage of life; but don’t get me wrong, it can be amazing, beautiful and fantastic, and don't we all get into it hoping to land on the good side of dating. So on the most recent episode of The View From Here Podcast we had a chat with two gentlemen talking about the whole aspect of dating broke girls. This just came to me when I thought of how girls are always setting goals for themselves, how they come to choose whether a guy is perfect for them or not, it always bases on the guy's financial stability. From the look of things financial stability is really an important aspect in a relationship. But as much as girls want to date a financially stable guy, do they also put it upon themselves to make sure they also bring something to the table as far as finances are concerned.

So to start with, I think its only fair to level the ground by defining what we mean by "a broke girl" here. Let's go with my definition, this is a girl who can't afford herself the basics, having to depend on your partner for each and everything. Personally, I think it's a terrible habit depending on someone like that to fend for your pleasures, your cravings and all such, its putting so much pressure on someone, its not their responsibility really. You are dating this guy, he is not about to take up fatherly duties for you. I think for a relationship to work both parties should be in it equally. Not to say I'm a relationship guru or something like that, but you saying to yourself you don't want to deal with a broke guy, do you ever take a second to think how frustrating it could be to date your broke ass (excuse my French). The same traits that you condemn in a guy are the very same traits you possess, how can that be attractive to the next person if you don't find it attractive yourself.
So on the podcast one of the guests said he would rather date a broke girl, because broke girls are easier 'to control', and of course I had my two cents about that statement. First of all Sir, why do you even feel the need to control your girl, that's pure madness. I mean, yes we are living in a patriarchal society but aren't we trying to fight this whole issue of patriarchy, and it's sad to see that it's starting from the simplest of things. This is when you get married and your husband is telling the wife they have no say in anything because he foots the bill. I believe a guy shouldn't have a problem with their girl being monied, I mean if anything you should be glad, ain't it a relief ?! I mean come on, you don't get annoying messages like "babe, please buy me airtime", "babe please send me money for my hair", I mean all the time, really, you enjoy that?????? That's weird! Bottom line.... let's stop with the patriarchal mentality bafethu, it's 2021.
Nonetheless, it's all on communication and getting to an understanding with your partner, and building that foundation which can't be broken by money issues (I doubt that's possible though lol). If there's that all these other things won't matter. So really it's all on what you guys have agreed on in that relationship. Don't let us who are just sharing our opinions ruin your relationships. I'm not saying stop listening to the podcast or reading the blogs lol.
